Terms of Service

These terms explain what you get, what you pay, and how the service works when you apply to George's Sites. By applying for a website you agree to these terms.

George's Sites is run by George Lane, a sole trader based in Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom ("I", "me", "my"). "You" means the business or person applying for or receiving a service.

1. The Free Website: Eligibility and Scope

The free website is available to genuine UK businesses that meet my suitability rules, assessed per application. Standard scope is up to five pages, typically Home, Services, About, Contact and one other suitable page. Applying does not guarantee a website; I confirm acceptance personally, and if the offer is not right for your business I will tell you quickly and honestly.

2. Revisions and Delivery

One consolidated revision round is included before handover or launch. Further changes are not part of the free build.

3. Content You Supply

You confirm that all business details, services, service areas, qualifications, reviews and images you supply are accurate and authorised for use, and you remain responsible for that accuracy. I only ever use real photos and reviews you have supplied or approved, and nothing goes on your website without your say-so on the reveal call.

4. Ownership and the File Export

You may receive a static export of your website and self-host it, free of charge. The static export does not include my managed form delivery, monitoring, changes, support or automations.

5. Website Care: What's Included

Website Care is the optional paid service where I look after your website. It includes: managed static hosting; SSL; connection of a customer-owned domain; working contact-form delivery; deployment monitoring; source and deployment backups; technical maintenance and fault support.

6. Website Care: What's Not Included

Domain registration and renewal unless separately agreed
Routine content changes
Ecommerce
Booking-system setup
Bespoke integrations
Enquiry or review automation
SEO campaigns and advertising
Any guarantee of rankings, traffic, enquiries or sales

7. Domains

Domains remain your property and your responsibility, including registration and renewal, unless separately agreed with me.

8. Prices and VAT

The free website is £0. Website Care is £20 plus VAT per month, £24 per month at the current VAT rate, with no setup fee. Managed Lead System prices include VAT where stated.

9. Payment and Activation Are Manual

No payment is taken through this website. Website Care and the automation service are agreed with me during or after the reveal call. I arrange payment and activation manually, and a paid service is active only once I confirm it personally.

10. Cancelling Website Care

Website Care is rolling monthly with 30 days' notice. To cancel, email george@laneconsultancy.com. Cancellation takes effect 30 days after I receive your notice, and the service continues until the end of that notice period.

11. What Happens After Cancellation

When Website Care ends, managed hosting and form delivery stop, and you receive a static export of your files. The contact form in the export will not deliver messages until you arrange your own form handling.

12. The Automation Service

The Managed Lead System (enquiry alerts, acknowledgements, follow-up, review requests, review replies, reporting) is a separate service from Website Care, priced and agreed separately. It is a conversation for after your website is live, never part of the free build.

13. Legacy Offers

Offers previously published at /claim/ and /offers/greenhithe-residents/ are unchanged by these terms and continue to be governed by the terms published with them, until I announce otherwise.

14. Your Responsibilities

You agree to use the website lawfully and not for any illegal, misleading or harmful purpose, and to keep any login details I give you secure. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of any content you supply.

15. Intellectual Property

You grant me a licence to use the materials you supply for the purpose of building and running your website. Third-party tools, fonts, plugins and libraries used in your site remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their own licences.

16. Third-Party Services

The service relies on third-party providers including Tally (forms), Calendly (booking), Vercel (hosting), Google, Meta and Microsoft (analytics and advertising). I'm not responsible for outages, changes or issues caused by these third parties, though I'll take reasonable steps to keep your site running.

17. Results and SEO

I build sites to professional standards, and I'll always be honest about what's realistic. I can't guarantee specific search rankings, traffic levels, or numbers of enquiries, as these depend on many factors outside my control. Any examples I mention, such as my own Thames Boilers site, are illustrations, not promises of the same result.

18. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything that can't be limited by law.

Subject to that, my total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the total fees you have paid me in the 12 months before the claim arose. I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, business or data.

19. Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms from time to time. If I make a material change, I'll let existing customers know. The "Last updated" date shows the current version.

20. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
