Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 July 2026

These terms explain what you get, what you pay, and how the service works when you buy a website from George's Sites. Please read them before signing up. By subscribing, you agree to these terms.

George's Sites is run by George Lane, a sole trader based in Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom ("I", "me", "my"). "You" means the business or person purchasing the service.

1. The Service

I design, build, host and maintain a professional website for your business. Your package includes:

  • A custom-designed website (not a template)
  • All website copy written for you
  • Photos sorted: your own or professionally generated
  • Fast, secure hosting and an SSL certificate
  • On-page and technical SEO
  • Google Analytics and Search Console setup
  • Google and Facebook ad pixels installed
  • An admin login to edit your site (up to 100 pages)
  • Online booking integrated or set up
  • Google Reviews automation (requests and replies)
  • Quarterly strategy calls
  • 4 content edits per month
  • Ongoing support by email or phone

2. Price and Payment

The price is from £995 + VAT as a one-off initial setup fee, then £79/month + VAT for the ongoing service. All prices are exclusive of VAT, which is added at the applicable rate.

  • The exact setup fee is confirmed in your quote before you commit.
  • Payments are collected by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise recurring monthly billing of the £79/month + VAT fee via Stripe.
  • The monthly fee is billed in advance each month.

3. Timescales and the Launch Guarantee

Your site goes live within 14 days of our kick-off chat, or your first month is free. This assumes you provide the information, content and approvals I need in reasonable time. If delays are caused by late responses or missing materials from your side, the 14-day period is paused until I have what I need.

4. Previews and Approvals (Preview-First Promise)

You see and approve every page before anything goes live. Nothing is published until you're happy with it. You'll have unlimited revisions in your first month to get the wording, photos and layout right.

5. The 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

If you're not happy with your website for any reason in the first 30 days, I'll refund every penny. No questions, no hard feelings. The 30 days run from the start of your subscription.

6. Ongoing Edits and Support

Your £79/month includes 4 content edits per month and ongoing support during working hours. Edits are things like price changes, a new service, or a tweak to a page. Unused edits don't roll over to the next month. You can also make unlimited changes yourself via your admin login for up to 100 pages.

7. Term, Cancellation and What Happens After 12 Months

You continue at £79/month (ex VAT) for as long as you want the service. Cancel anytime with 30 days notice. There is no long-term lock-in after the first year. In practice:

  • Month 1: risk-free under the 30-day money-back guarantee.
  • Months 2–12: the £79/month covers hosting, support, edits and reviews.
  • From month 13: you may cancel at any time by giving 30 days notice.

To cancel, email george@laneconsultancy.com. Cancellation takes effect 30 days after I receive your notice, and the service continues until the end of that notice period.

8. Website Ownership and What You Keep If You Leave

While you're subscribed, the website (including the hosting, build and any content I've produced) is provided as part of the service and remains mine.

If you cancel after 12 months, I'll hand over a static export of the content and design at no extra charge. You keep your domain, your content, and your photos. You won't be held hostage.

Any material you supplied (your logo, your photos, your business information) remains yours throughout. Your domain name is yours.

9. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • provide accurate information and the content, approvals and access I need in reasonable time;
  • ensure you have the rights to any logos, photos, text or other materials you supply;
  • use the website lawfully and not for any illegal, misleading or harmful purpose; and
  • keep your admin login details secure.

You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of any content you supply or add yourself.

10. Intellectual Property

You grant me a licence to use the materials you supply for the purpose of building and running your website. Third-party tools, fonts, plugins and libraries used in your site remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their own licences.

11. Third-Party Services

The service relies on third-party providers including Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting), Tally (forms), Google, Meta and Microsoft (analytics and advertising), and Mapbox (maps). I'm not responsible for outages, changes or issues caused by these third parties, though I'll take reasonable steps to keep your site running.

12. Results and SEO

I build your site to professional standards and with SEO best practice, and I'll always be honest about what's realistic. However, I can't guarantee specific search rankings, traffic levels, or numbers of enquiries, as these depend on many factors outside my control (competition, your market, Google's algorithms, and how you use the site). Any examples I mention, such as my own Thames Boilers site, are illustrations, not promises of the same result.

13. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything that can't be limited by law.

Subject to that, my total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the total fees you have paid me in the 12 months before the claim arose. I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, business or data.

14. Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms from time to time. If I make a material change, I'll let existing customers know. The "Last updated" date shows the current version.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

16. The Postcard Offer

If you claimed your website from a postcard preview rather than signing up to the standard package above, this section applies instead of the figures in Section 2.

  • The build fee is £149 (not £995), payable as a one-off.
  • Hosting is £9/month (not £79/month), billed in advance each month via Stripe.
  • There is no minimum term. You can cancel hosting at any time by giving 30 days notice, in the same way as described in Section 7.
  • If you cancel, I'll hand over a static export of your site at no extra charge — whenever you cancel, not only after 12 months.
  • The 30-day money-back guarantee in Section 5 applies in full: if you're not happy in the first 30 days, I'll refund your entire £149. No questions, no hard feelings.

Everything else in these terms — your responsibilities, intellectual property, third-party services, liability and governing law — applies to the postcard offer in the same way as the standard package.
