Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 July 2026

George's Sites is run by George Lane, a sole trader based in Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom. In this policy, "I", "me" and "my" mean George Lane trading as George's Sites, and "you" means anyone who visits this website, completes a form, books a call, or becomes a customer.

I take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data I collect, why I collect it, how I use and protect it, who I share it with, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

I am the data controller for the personal data described here. If you have any questions, or want to exercise any of your rights, email george@laneconsultancy.com.

Information I Collect

Information you give me directly. When you complete a lead form, request a preview or quote, book a call, email me, or become a customer, I may collect your name, email address, phone number, business name, website details, trade or profession, service area, budget range, preferred contact method, and any other details you choose to provide in a form or message.

Information collected automatically. When you use the website, I collect certain technical and usage data, including pages visited, referring pages, approximate location, device and browser type, UTM parameters, and advertising identifiers such as Facebook click IDs (fbclid), Google click IDs (gclid) and similar cookies or identifiers. This helps me understand which adverts and pages generate enquiries.

Payment information. If you become a paying customer, payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are handled directly by Stripe and are not stored by me. I receive confirmation of payment and limited billing information, not your full card number.

The Lawful Bases I Rely On

Under UK GDPR, I must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. Depending on the situation, I rely on:

  • Consent — for non-essential cookies, analytics and advertising/measurement tools, where you have given consent. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Contract — where processing is necessary to provide the services you have requested or entered into (for example, building and hosting your website, or taking payment).
  • Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, prepare previews and quotes, keep the website secure, and measure advertising performance, provided this does not override your rights and freedoms.
  • Legal obligation — to keep business and accounting records as required by law.

How I Use Your Information

I use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and prepare a website preview or quote;
  • provide the services you request, including designing, building, hosting and maintaining your website;
  • take payment and manage your subscription;
  • follow up about your project and provide ongoing support;
  • improve the website and my services;
  • measure and improve advertising performance; and
  • meet my legal, accounting and record-keeping obligations.

Cookies, Analytics and Advertising Tools

This website uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, analytics and advertising measurement. The main third-party tools are:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — to understand how visitors use the site.
  • Google Ads conversion tracking, Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Conversions API, and Microsoft Advertising (UET) tag — to measure whether adverts lead to enquiries or purchases. Where required, contact information may be hashed (turned into an unreadable code) before being sent for conversion measurement.
  • Mapbox — to display interactive maps, which may load in your browser when you view a page containing a map.

Some of these tools may transfer data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, the providers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and where a consent banner is provided, through your consent choices.

Sharing Your Information

I do not sell your personal information. I share it only with trusted service providers who help me run the website and deliver the service, and only to the extent needed. These currently include:

  • Tally — form and lead-capture provider (processes form submissions).
  • Vercel — website hosting and infrastructure.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Google, Meta and Microsoft — analytics and advertising measurement.
  • Mapbox — map display.

Each of these processes data under its own privacy terms and, where they act as my processors, under a data processing agreement. I may also disclose information where required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

How Long I Keep Your Information

I keep enquiry and customer information for as long as needed to respond, provide services, keep business records, resolve issues, and meet legal or accounting obligations.

As a general guide:

  • Enquiries that don't become customers: kept for up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Customer records and financial documents: kept for 6 years after our contract ends, to meet accounting and tax obligations.

How I Protect Your Information

I use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your data secure, including reputable hosting and service providers, encryption in transit (HTTPS/SSL), and limiting access to your data to what's necessary to run the service. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but I take appropriate steps to protect your information.

Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • be informed about how your data is used (this policy);
  • access a copy of the personal data I hold about you;
  • rectification — ask me to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • erasure — ask me to delete your data where I no longer need it;
  • restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances;
  • data portability — receive certain data in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email george@laneconsultancy.com. I'll respond within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, please contact me first and I'll do my best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. Please check back occasionally.
