"Booked for our anniversary and they'd remembered from the booking note — a candle in the fig tart and a glass of moscatel on the house. The hake was the best fish dish I've eaten in Bath."
Modern Mediterranean · Bath
Dinner, slowed down. Candlelight, fig leaves & fire.
A small, seasonal Mediterranean menu cooked over flame, served in a candle-lit Georgian room a minute's walk from the Circus. Thirty-eight seats. One sitting done properly.
The Snug — yours for the evening
Behind the main room sits The Snug: a private, panelled dining room with its own fireplace, seating up to fourteen. Birthdays, anniversaries, long lunches that turn into dinners — it's made for them.
We'll build a set menu around your party with the kitchen, match wines if you'd like, and keep the fire lit until the last guest leaves. For larger celebrations, the whole restaurant can be yours on Sundays and Mondays.
"The lamb shoulder arrives like an event, the room glows like a painting, and somewhere between the burrata and the fig tart you forget the twenty-first century exists."
— The West Country Table, restaurant of the month
"We hired The Snug for my mother's 70th. Fourteen of us, set menu agreed over one phone call, and the staff treated her like royalty. The lamb for two — ordered seven times across the table — says it all."
"That rare thing: a beautiful room where the food is even better than the lighting. Padrón peppers, the burrata with apricots, then the chocolate and olive oil mousse. We rebooked before we'd paid the bill."
